A spelling bee is a competition where contestants, usually children, are asked to spell English words. The concept is thought to have originated in the United States Today, National Spelling Bee competitions for English are held in the United States,United Kingdom,Australia, New Zeland Canada, México and Indonesia, among others. Similar institutions are also found in numerous other countries such as France's "La dictée" and Poland's "Dyktando". They are rare to nonexistent in countries whose national language follows more phonetic spelling rules, like Spain or Mexico, as compared to the largely historical spelling of the English and French languages.
In Merida, Ibero collaborated together with other three schools to organize the spelling bee.
This year, the contest took place in the “Centro de Consultas Sanillana” in february. Students from Ibero School did an excellent job. It was very exiting, and the children had all the support of teachers and classmates back at school
Ibero won 1 fist place, 3 seconds and 1 third. We are very proud of all the students, of working hard to prepare for the spelling bee, and hope the keep doing well in their English language learning.
Congratulations to Cesar, Fernando, Adriana, Rodrigo and Daniel excellent job!
